With Lea Penman, to whom he married in 1924, helped discover Marjorie Lord as a teen when Marjorie was a student at the school where they taught acting in New York city.
He was a dapper silent screen character actor, often in roguish roles. At Paramount in the 1920's, he rejoined this studio in the 40's as a small part supporting player. During the intervening years, he had a busy career on Broadway playing men of means or influence.
